What's new

Every Cadence release, newest first. Downloads are on GitHub Releases.

v0.5.1

Download

Fixed

  • Agents open in Terminal with any login shell. With fish or tcsh, starting an agent showed exec: -a: unknown option and its Terminal window never attached. Cadence now runs the attach itself through zsh.

v0.5.0

Every coding agent, one inbox.

New

  • Talk. Double-tap ⌥ and say or type what you need. Cadence sends it to the agent already on that work, starts a new one, or answers through the Director, and shows a receipt of what it did.
  • Inbox. Questions and finished work from every agent in one place. Answer with 1 to 9, move with J and K, take an answer back within two seconds, or pick a suggested reply.
  • Terminal agents. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and other CLIs run in herdr terminals, shown in a real Terminal window. Every agent gets a short title, and a recap when it finishes.
  • A new toolbar. One dot per agent: blue is working, amber needs you, green is done. Hover to see what each one is on, and put a group of agents away as a set to reopen later.
  • Point at it. The camera button attaches a region of your screen to your next request.
  • Better dictation. Parakeet and hybrid transcription, Silero voice detection, better Text Polish and custom vocabulary.

Changed

  • Signed and notarized by Apple. Cadence opens like any other app. The new signature means macOS asks for permissions once more after updating; Installation explains how to reset them if they look stuck.

v0.4.0

Download

New

  • Voice-controlled agents. Start and manage Claude Code agents by voice, with a dashboard of their state and output.
  • Approvals. Approve or reject what an agent wants to do by voice, from its card, or from a notification.
  • Spoken updates. Progress announcements for each agent, and a per-agent mute.
  • Wake word for hands-free use.
  • More context. The active app, the clipboard and other context from your Mac go along with a command.
  • MCP broker so agents can talk to Cadence.
  • Notifications for agent events and approvals.
  • A redesigned indicator with a live waveform.

v0.3.2

Download

New

  • Dictation history. See, copy and re-type past dictations.
  • Tone per app for grammar correction.
  • Smarter voice commands that ignore filler like "hey", "please" and "can you".
  • A redesigned Settings window and better onboarding.

Fixed

  • Permissions stuck as denied after upgrading from an older version, with a reset in Settings.
  • More reliable hotkey detection.

v0.3.1

Download

New

  • Obsidian. Create, append to and read notes in your vault by voice. Say the vault's name and Cadence finds it.
  • Conversational commands. "Hey computer, make me a to-do called clean my room" now does what you meant.

Changed

  • Apple Silicon only from this release.

v0.3.0

Download

New

  • Updates from inside the app. Check in Settings → About; Cadence downloads the new version and opens it. It also checks on launch, which you can turn off.

Fixed

  • The microphone prompt now appears instead of macOS silently denying access, and recording waits until you grant it.

v0.2.1

Download

Fixed

  • Microphone access silently denied on first launch.
  • The permission buttons now open the right pane of System Settings.

v0.2.0

Download

New

  • Permissions in Settings. Live status for Accessibility, Input Monitoring and Microphone, with buttons that open the right pane of System Settings.
  • A warning when you start recording without the permissions it needs.
  • An Intel build alongside Apple Silicon.

Fixed

  • The "damaged disk image" error when opening the download.
